How they run

22 faires ran for two days, 13 for three and 5 for one. None ran over more than one weekend, unlike the biggest American faires.

33 were held on temporary sites such as fairgrounds, parks and farms, 4 at historic sites, 2 indoors and 1 on a permanent faire site.

Most faires are run by their own local organizer. 4 organizers run more than one, and between them they ran 15 of the 40.

At least 4 faires sold out a day, a ticket type or the whole event.

Weather

Across the 86 faire days we have weather records for, the median high was 22°C and the hottest day reached 30°C. 51 days were dry and 12 had 5 mm of rain or more.

About these numbers

This covers the faires on our calendar: Renaissance faires and medieval festivals open to the public, not Highland games, LARP-only events or pirate, Viking and fairy festivals (how we tell them apart). Start years come from each faire's own history, so a faire that moved or renamed counts from when it first ran. Prices are each faire's latest published adult day price. Weather is modelled data for each faire's location. Last updated November 1, 2026.
